All Day Comic-Con International Comic-Con International returns to the San Diego Convention Center. Comic-Con is the longest continuously-run comics and popular-arts convention in the U.S.

With attendance topping 130,000 in recent years in a convention center that has maxed out in space, the event has grown to include satellite locations, including hotels and parks. Many celebrity appearances, costume competitions, art installations, lectures, workshops, and the Comic-Con International Independent Film Festival take place outside of the Convention Center, creating a campus-type feel for the convention in downtown San Diego.

1:00 PM New Americans Museum Tour Join the County of San Diego Filipino American Employees Association (CSDFEA) and Asian Pacific Alliance of County Employees (APACE) for a tour of the New Americans Museum on Saturday, July 20th.

Featured Exhibits:

Landsick by San Diego based artist, Rizzhel Javier. An exhibit that explores the hybridity of culture, complexity of intergenerational relationships and study of bi national families. Through the archiving of family photos, Javier examines the literal and metaphorical impact of distance between first generation Americans and their migrant ancestors. The installation pays tribute to family history, their place of origin and migration home.

Between Two Worlds: Untold Stories of Refugees from Laos. Presents and juxtaposes the crucial stages of refugees from Laos and multi-ethnic Lao American history through the representation of four homes. As visitors move physically and symbolically through each, they will be asked to contemplate ideas of "home" as seen through the eyes of people for whom the notion is precarious, and for those who have lived "between two worlds." The exhibit will also feature stories from local San Diego families.

Admission/Cost: $5 donation requested per attendee
